As a college academic support counselor and manager of a tutoring center, I feel this article in my soul. I see so many inadequacies from how our students are educated in K-12, but then the trend often continues in college. You point to the heart of the issue: training for living versus training to make a living. Is the job of the education system to make better citizens who are productive and think critically? Or is it to produce a labor field wherein the goal is more production and consumption? Or is it a balance of both? Your article has my brain working this morning. Thank you.
